Brain teaser: riddle has people hunting for missing pencil – can YOU beat the record?

Brain teasers can come in many forms. They can be riddles, images, puzzles or poems.

They have a double or hidden meaning and put forward a question that the reader then has to work out.

A good brain teaser can test even the most discerning of puzzle solvers, leaving them scratching their heads for hours.

One puzzle is calling on people to find a missing pencil, hidden within a sea of books.

The puzzle shows an image filled with green, blue and red books stacked on top of each other.

Somewhere in the image is a hidden pencil, but it is not easily found.

The image can have people staring into the mountain of books for hours, with many people competing to find the pencil.

The colours and shapes on the page distract the brain, making it hard to pinpoint one object in all the chaos.

The brain teaser was created by Exam Papers Plus, part of its “find the object” series.

Spoiler alert: the pencil is hidden in the bottom right corner of the image, extremely hard to spot with the naked eye.

Exam Papers Plus founder, Faisal Nasim, comments: “Hidden object games are nothing new. But we love them.

“Not only are they addictively fun, but this type of activity is great for sharpening observation and attention skills!

“And they can be enjoyed by people of any age.”

Faisal also revealed how long it took for him to find the pencil.

He added: “A few of us here raced to find it. 19 seconds was the record, but I’m afraid to say that record was not mine! It took me almost a minute.”

Another brain teaser confusing Britons is an optical illusion showing a black and white image.

Optical illusions are images that are created to deceive the mind, appearing to be something other than they are.

They use light, colours and patterns to mislead the brain, leaving the viewer confused and unsure of what they’re actually seeing.

This particular drawing claims to be able to determine your age, just by what you see in the image.

The image appears to show either a young lady with a fancy hat or an old woman with a headscarf.
