James penned a four-year deal with the Lakers after leaving Cleveland Cavaliers in July.

The small forward featured against Golden State Warriors last night and he scored 15 points in the 123-113 victory.

After the win, James spent time with Durant, although he denied having any substantial conversation with the two-time NBA Champion.

And he then spoke of his respect for all of the Warriors’ stars, including Steph Curry, although he hailed Durant more than most.

“That mutual respect will always be there. It’s fun going back and forth with those guys,” James said. Not much conversation. Mutual respect as always there.

“My relationship with KD goes a little bit deeper, but I’ve known Steph for a long time.”

Durant is in the final 12 months of his contract with the Warriors and speculation has been rife over a blockbuster move to the Lakers in 2019.

Luke Walton’s side will have two max salary caps available as he attempts to build a team which can challenge for the NBA Championship.

The Lakers have had a mixed pre-season since James joined the roster but the 33-year-old is only bothered about results during the domestic campaign.

“I don’t care if we turn the ball over 1,000 times. I want everybody to come out healthy,” he added.

“Luke is not going to like that, but everybody come out healthy and get ready for next Thursday that’s all that matters to me.

“The personalities we got here are here for a reason. They were hand-picked. They’ll be beneficial to our team’s success.”

Meanwhile, Lonzo Ball made his return from injury last night and he was delighted with the outcome.

“That’s my first time playing on [James’] team, but that’s my play. We run it all the time and he threw it up there for me,” he said.

“When you play with LeBron you’ve got to keep playing because he’s easy to watch as much stuff as he does.

“He had a monster first half. Best player in the world. We got to keep focusing. We got to keep doing our job.”
