Hurricane Michael weather MAPPED: City by City weather guide – South Carolina BATTERED | World | News

At least two people have died after Michael made landfall in the Florida Panhandle as a Category 4 hurricane yesterday.

This was the strongest hurricane on record to his the area.

Michael has now been downgraded to a tropical storm, however, the hurricane caused devastation along the coast before it weakened.

Wind speeds reached 130 mph and storm surge saw levels of 8 feet and the hurricane also affected parts of Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia.

Here is a city by city weather guide as the tropical storm continues to lash heavy rainfall and strong winds.

Atlanta

This area will see around one to three inches of rainfall overall, but the rain will ease off after the sun rises on Thursday.

A cold front will push Michael towards the east, although this could result in winds strengthening and power outages lasting over the next couple of days.

Augusta, GA

The rain will stop during early Thursday afternoon and the winds should also weaken.

Power cuts are also likely after two to four inches of rain fall.

Columbia, S.C

Flash flooding is forecast as torrential rain of three to five inches will fall from 5am to 9am.

Winds speeds will reach 40 mph and will stay strong until midnight on Thursday.

Charlotte

There will be thunderstorms and heavy rain around sunrise, with winds reaching speeds of 15 to 20 mph.

There is also a threat of flash-flooding and loss of power if winds become strong enough to pull down wet branches and event trees in wet soil.

Raleigh

Michael’s heaviest rain will start in the early afternoon and continue until 5 or 6 pm, at which point flash flooding will be possible after two to four inches of rain fall.

The showers should ease off quickly after 8 pm, as a cold front will push Michael east.

Norfolk and Virginia Beach region

Torrential rain could lead to six inches of rain in less than 24 hours on Thursday.

On Friday, there may be clear skies in the afternoon, although strong winds will remain.
