NBA news: Kawhi Leonard drops huge trade hint amid Lakers and Clippers interest | Other | Sport
Leonard moved to the Raptors this offseason after becoming disgruntled with San Antonio Spurs.
But the small forward only penned a one-year deal, sparking speculation he could leave as a free agent in 2019.
The Lakers and Clippers have been rumoured to be interested in signing the 27-year-old next year as they continue to build teams capable of challenging for the Championship.
And Leonard refused to rule out leaving the Raptors at the end of his current deal.
“I look at it as a day to day process. My focus is on this year, this group that I have,” Leonard said.
“If you look at the future, you are going to trip on the present.
“I’m excited about the city, knowing it is a basketball city. … Right now I am feeling great — ready to play basketball.
“I’m a fun guy. Obviously I love the game of basketball. I mean, there’s just more questions you’ll have to ask me.
“I can’t give you a spiel about me. I don’t even know where you sit.”
Meanwhile, Leonard refused to go into too much detail about his Spurs exit.
“I have no regrets but I want to focus on this team, this journey we have in front of us,” he added.
“I was to focus on the present time and not look back.”
And Raptors head coach Nick Nurse is excited to see his new addition in action.
“He’s ready to go. He’s serious about his game and he’s serious about winning,” said Nurse.
“Kawhi has been around long enough he can handle the pressure. It’s all systems go.
“He’s a hooper, he plays hard and he loves to play. He’s going to show up, and we’re going to put in work.”
