Strictly Come Dancing 2018 bosses reveal format change for new professional dancers | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
Despite the pairings, many Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left confused when the show revealed three new professional dancers.
Although three newcomers were announced, only Graziano Di Prima was paired up with a celebrity partner.
The Italian dancer was paired with Capital Radio DJ Vick Hope last Saturday night.
This left South African Latin Champion Johannes Radebe and four-time winner of the Italian Dance Championship Luba Mushtuk without partners.
Bosses have now rushed to reveal this is due to a huge new format change where viewers can expect “lots more surprises”.
Show producers have now revealed new details about the 2018 dancing line-up.
They have confirmed fans will see more group performances and “lots of surprises” for the three new professionals.
A Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson explained the real reason the newcomers were left without partners to OK.co.uk.
They said: “We have 18 pros and 15 celebrities, so sadly we can’t give everyone a partner.
“But this year we are planning even more ambitious group performances!
“We will have our Strictly special for Children in Need, there is the Christmas Special and there will be lots more surprises along the way.”
They added: “All our pros are going to be kept really busy!”
Graziano and Vick teased they were having “problems” after the pair encountered some struggles while rehearsing.
Vick, 28, confessed: “My body is hurting in bits that I didn’t even know I had. I am in agony.
“And I never knew that agony could feel so good. I’ve got quite stiff fingers! I chopped one of them off when I was little, by accident.”
Following last week’s opening show, there was a week off Strictly while the couples rehearsed their first routines.
The Strictly Come Dancing live shows will now start next Saturday on September 22.
As one of the BBC’s primetime shows, fans have been flooding Twitter with messages of support.
Prime Minister Theresa May shared a Strictly video following her week of viral dancing videos.
The Conservatives leader posted: “Get in touch if you need any tips… #Strictly.”
