Strictly Come Dancing 2018 line-up: BBC newsreader Kate Silverton signs up to reality show | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

BBC host Kate Silverton is a major staple on the channel, regularly hosting the news at one, six and ten every day.

Now reports suggest the 48-year-old journalist is donning her dancing shoes and getting ready to take part in Strictly Come Dancing after 12 years of turning producers down.

The mother-of-two has been employed by the BBC for over a decade and remains one of the most respected and popular presenters on the channel.

According to a source, the star is delighted to finally be able to take part, and is keen to jump in to the intense project with both feet.

“Kate has been at the top of the producers’ wish list for more than a decade,” an insider told The Sun.

They continued: “But she has always put her career and family above everything. Now she’s polishing off her dancing shoes and can’t wait to get started.

“She was asked previously but was reporting on the front line in Iraq and Afghanistan so couldn’t do it.

The source went on to say the opportunity is a “dream come true” for the presenter.

“Kate has made no secret of how much she loves Strictly,” the source said. “So being able to take part is a dream come true.”

Bosses at the ballroom dancing show reportedly tried to woo Kate back in 2006, but she was reporting on the war in Afghanistan at the time – specifically Basra.

Kate said at the time: “It would be lovely to learn how to dance, but I’ve got too much going on journalistically.”

As Strictly rumours continue to flood in, the BBC have put out a blanket statement on the line-up.

“We do not comment on speculation,” a spokesperson shared. “The full line-up will be announced in due course.”

This was then followed by an exciting slip from the show’s presenter Tess Daly.

Posting on her Instagram page, Tess, 49, said the full line-up will start being dropped from August 13.

Sharing a photo of herself and co-host Claudia Winkleman, 46, to her 353,000 followers, Tess could barely contain her excitement.

The pair could be seen embracing each other, which was accompanied by the caption: “Got to snuggle up to this one today @amiclaudiawinkleman So excited for our first day back to work @bbstrictly.”

Tess continued: “PLUS we found out the new celeb cast for STRICTLY 2018! Can’t wait to share it with you…! #strictly.”

One eager fan called @Iwilks91 swiftly asked: “When will we know?”

Deciding to share the truth, Tess replied: “@Iwilks91 the names start being released on August 13th.”

Meanwhile, YouTube celebrity and vlogger Joe Sugg is also reportedly set to join the star-studded cast.

Joe is the brother of fellow social media star Zoe Sugg, who is most well-known for her hugely successful Instagram page “Zoella”.

The 26-year-old has reportedly joined the series in the hope of “launching into the mainstream”.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One next month.
