Fortnite Summer Skirmish event: What is King Pin Format for Week 5? | Gaming | Entertainment

Summer Skirmish is an eight week series of competitions in which Epic Games will be awarding a staggering $8,000,000 in prize money.

Each week the format of the competition changes, as well as those taking part.

This afternoon at 5pm ET (10pm BST) Fortnite Summer Skirmish King Pin will start with two days of competition.

It will be available to watch via Fortnite’s official Twitch and Youtube channels as well as your favourite Twitch streamer’s individual matches.

The most popular Fortnite: Battle Royale streamer, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, is taking part in this week’s event.

The esports star competed in previous weeks featuring solo tournaments, but this is the first time he’ll team up with another player.

His partner, Malachi “Reverse2K” Greiner, won big in last week’s competition, scoring $86,000 thanks to a big bonus for having the most kills.

King Ping is a duos type match, with teams receiving one point per elimination with a 3x score multiplier in the next round should they achieve a Victory Royale.

If a duo gets seven or more eliminations in a single game they will get a 2x multiplier in the new round.

This means that players could take the route of waiting for other players to thin the herd – waiting it out for the elusive Victory Royale and getting the 3x multiplier.

After earning that Victory Royale players would then gain a massive incentive to be aggressive in the next round, winning more points per elimination.

Getting over seven kills also gives you a good reason to go looking for virtual blood, since your eliminations are worth double in the second round.

There are eight matches, and the team with the highest score at the end of all eight wins.

The two-day event will have 50 participating duos on both days competing for a pot of $500,000 in prize money each day.

Teams who reach the top 20 will all receive a prize with first place earning $75,000.

Unlike previous Summer Skirmish formats, there is on bonus for completing a certain feat during a match.

Below are the prizes:

First: $75,000
Second: $60,000
Third: $50,000
Fourth: $45,000
Fifth: $40,000
Sixth: $35,000
Seventh: $30,000
Eighth: $25,000
Ninth: $22,500
10th: $17,500
11th-15th: $12,500
16th-20th: $7,500
